Safety briefings every class. Instructors that interfere with inappropriate partners. And a sensible curriculum that excludes techniques which are high risk.

You’ll be pushed to work hard in our adult class. But as adults, we all move at a different pace. Our adult class structure accounts for this.
Adult Martial Arts Questions

All students at Rise learn a mixed martial arts curriculum of the most important striking (Muay Thai, Taekwondo, & Karate) techniques and grappling (Wrestling, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu) techniques.

25% striking technique training.
25% grappling technique training.
20% freestyle bag work.
25% grappling or sparring rounds.
5% martial arts game / challenge. -
No. Our program is strictly males with males and females with females. You will not be compelled or asked to touch the opposite sex.

No. If you’re 100 years old but you can keep up, that’s totally fine with us. Adults in their 30s, 40s, and 50s are very common in our program. Older is also totally fine as well if you have the right attitude and physical ability.

No. This is a mixed martial arts school. Mixed martial arts incorporates techniques from a variety of styles, including Muay Thai, Karate, BJJ / Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and many others. But our rank and curriculum system is not any one of those specific arts.

No! But soreness is, especially when first starting out.

Adult students will grapple every class. And they will do light to moderate sparring / striking most classes. Adults are also the only age group that can opt-in to light to moderate head contact.

All adults wear a full martial arts uniform (Gi / Dobok). You can wear a comfortable t-shirt underneath.

Some examples are: Jab, Cross, Hook, Elbow Strikes, Turning Elbow Strikes, Knee Strikes, Single Leg Takedown, Body Lock Takedown, Armbar, Rear Naked Choke, Guillotine Choke, Leg Kicks, to name a few.

You will be pushed to work hard! But you can go at a pace that’s hard for you, individually. We know that physical capacity varies dramatically among adults!
